Description
REST IN PEACE GRANDMA BETTY ~ YOU WERE THE BEST GRANDMA EVER 11/26/1924 - 3/8/2013
Synopsis
Jack introduces the video explaining that their parents are gone for the weekend, and that their paternal grandmother Betty Lou Quire is there to watch them for the weekend. Jack says that Stephen and Betty had been arguing the entire time. He then focuses the camera on the two of them in the living room.
Betty asks Stephen to hand her the TV remote so she can watch the news, but Stephen refuses to because he wants to watch what is currently on the television. As the two continue to argue, Betty calls Stephen a brat, and tells him that while his parents may tolerate his disrespect, she will not.
Stephen tells her that his father told him he's the "man of the house," but Betty Lou ridicules this claim. As this spirited insult-trading progresses, Betty Lou then warns Stephen that she will use her paddle on him, but Stephen only scoffs at the threat. Betty then gets up, grabs her paddle (actually a large, handled cutting-board, and strikes Stephen once with it. Stephen protests that she can't hit him in the face with it, but Betty Lou strikes him a second time, producing a small cut under Stephen's right eye.
Betty then decides she's had enough and prepares to leave the house. Stephen says he's calling his mother to tell her what Betty did to him, but Betty says she's calling her herself. Betty then searches for the phone, demanding to know where it is, but Stephen says he doesn't know where it is.
"Ya got it up your ass, too?" Betty Lou asks Stephen, indicating she's familiar with the events of the first episode, when Stephen inexplicably attempted to shove a remote up his anus.
Betty Lou's acerbic remark causes Stephen to protest, "That's not freakin' funny!" but produces uncontrollable giggles from Jack.
Trivia
- David and Jennifer do not appear, making this the second episode in which neither one of them are seen (the first being Greatest freakout ever 4). The only adult present is Stephen and Jack's paternal grandmother, Betty Lou Quire.
- Betty passed away 3 1/2 years after this video was filmed.
- There is another version of "Greatest freakout ever 6" floating around YouTube where Jack pulls a prank on Stephen while Stephen's grounded (due to him breaking the microwave in the previous episode).
- Betty is one of the very few adults who actually fights back against Stephen and even fewer who's actually assaulted him.
- When Betty threatens to get her paddle, Stephen makes a sarcastic remark "Okay, Barry Bonds, go get the paddle." This is a reference to a famous American Major League Baseball player who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants
- Despite this being her only appearance, Betty is evidently aware of the events of previous episodes. Or at least the first one. While demanding to know where the phone is, she asks Stephen, "You got it up your ass, too?" a reference to the first episode, when Stephen briefly attempts to insert a television remote in his anus. The allusion to this particularly embarrassing moment was not wasted on Stephen, who angrily responded, "That's not freakin' funny!"
- Stephen's reaction to being struck by Betty's "paddle" (a handled cutting board) seems to be extremely out of proportion with the amount of force Betty used. But Stephen is prone to overreaction.
- Despite this being released prior to Greatest Freakout Aftermath, it’s possible that it takes place afterwards, as in this episode Stephen seems to be aware of people knowing about him trying to shove a remote up his anus.
